One Health Partnership Initiative
The National Pork Board has teamed up with the University of Minnesota, Michigan State University, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and others to support a One Health partnership initiative. One Health refers to the concept of veterinary, human and ecosystem medicine working together to build on each other’s expertise. It is very important that agriculture and food supply veterinarians are involved since many of the topics covered by One Health need their input on food supply issues. One of the partnership projects funded through this initiative examines the effectiveness of down time in preventing the entry of both swine and human diseases into pork production facilities.
